APPENDIX "B"239SQUADRON ROUTINE ORDERS. No. 101/44. 21 SQUADRON, S.A.A.F.ByLT. COL. D. ORD. D.F.C.Officer Commanding,21 Squadron, S.A.A.F.6th November, 1944.Para. 365. PAY PARADES.The attention of all personnel is drawn to the fact that, Pay Parades will only be held twice per month, i.e. mid-monthly and end of the month. No intermediate drawings will be allowed except in very special circumstances. Due notice will be given of the date of Pay Parade.Applications for special allotments will be accepted between the 1st and the 7th day of each month.Personnel drawing pay from any other source whilst on leave, MUST (R) MUST report same to the Pay Office immediately on their return. Failure to comply with this order will be seriously dealt with.Para. 366. ARTICLES AND PHOTOGRAPHS FOR PRESS PUBLICATION.A large number of photographs taken by personnel in Units can be of considerable value for publicity purposes and any assistance by personnel in this connection is called for.Amateur enthusiasts are encouraged to submit photographs of Squadron activities, life, sports and personalities, to the Wing Intelligence Officer for onward transmission to S.A.A.F. Press Photographer.Negatives should be sent rather than prints, but in either case they should be clearly marked with the name and address of the photographer.In every case a short caption or story must accompany the photographs, and the correct names and home-towns of personalities are important.Personnel are also asked to submit articles and stories to A.D.P.R., U.D.F. Main H.Q., C.M.F., for transmission, after censorship, to Journals and Newspapers likely to accept them. (Circular Instruction No. ADM/A/6).Para. 367. COLLECTION OF SERVICE STORIES : "INSIDE INFORMATION".It is intended to compile a collection of short stories, sketches and verses written by members of the South African Forces. This collection of stories will appear under the general title of "Inside Information".All the proceeds will be devoted to the Governor General's Fund.All members of the South African Forces are invited to submit original manuscripts for inclusion in this collection. Short stories and sketches are to be from one thousand to five thousand words in length and must cover some phase in the war as seen by a member of the South African Forces.Besides fiction and real stories from the front line, contributions covering all other activities will be welcomed. Poems should be short and up to six stanzas in length. Where possible, the manuscripts should be typed and the name of the contributor clearly marked on the first and last pages.The closing date for contributions is 7th December, 1944. The material should be handed in to the Orderly Room as soon as possible.Payment for contributions will vary up to three guineas, according to length and merit.
