APPENDIX "A"238SQUADRON ROUTINE ORDERS. No. 100/44. 21 SQUADRON, S.A.A.F.ByLT. COL. D. ORD. D.F.C.Officer Commanding,21 Squadron, S.A.A.F.5th November, 1944.Para. 359. WEARING OF ANTI-GAS CAPES AS RAINCOATS.The Ground Sheet at present in issue does not give full protection against heavy rain and personnel may accordingly use anti-gas capes for rain protection.The general policy of conserving anti-gas capes is not altered by this concession, and proper care is to be taken of this equipment at all times. (C.R.O. No. 61. para 5. 21.10.44).Para. 360. DISCIPLINE — BOUNDS."SANDYS" Bar, Conversano, is placed out of bounds to all ranks. (C.R.O. No. 61. para 18. 21.10.44).Para. 361. DISTINCTIONS IN DRESS FOR SERVICE IN THE PRESENT WAR — WOUND STRIPES AND SERVICE CHEVRONS.The Adjutant General has ruled that the wearing of wound stripes and service chevrons is optional at the discretion of the individual. Wound stripes and chevrons are obtainable at "Q" Stores.Para. 361. FLYING BOOTS.Flying Boots must not be worn during wet weather.Para. 362. PARCELS.All parcels must have the contents and value written clearly on the outside.Para. 363. PREVENTION OF LARCENY AND LOSS OF M.T. VEHICLES.Efforts to secure the provision of official carparks at which a receipt is given for a vehicle have proved unsuccessful.It is the general duty of all ranks to take all steps necessary to safeguard vehicles and other service equipment from theft.Para. 364. POSTAL — CHRISTMAS ARRANGEMENTS.Private Christmas Cards will be conveyed to the Union by Air subject to compliance with the following conditions:—(a) Any one card together with envelope must not weigh more than 10 grammes, otherwise they will be despatched by surface.(b) No more than 6 cards must be handed in on behalf of any one person.(c) The cover of each card must bear an impression of the unit censor stamp and be franked by an Officer.
An endeavour will be made to ensure that Christmas Cards are not delivered earlier than 15th December, 1944, but as this is dependent on civil requirements no guarantee can be given.
Cards must be handed in at the Unit Post Office not later than 18th November, 1944.
Greetings Air Letters with an appropriate design printed thereon are in the course of preparation for issue on the basis of 5 per person. They will be despatched by air to the Union, postage free, provided they are handed in at the Unit Post Office by 30th November, 1944.
