APPENDIX "ZZ"284SQUADRON ROUTINE ORDERS. No. 50/44. 21 SQUADRON, S.A.A.F.ByLT. COL. A. C. JANDRELL. D.F.C.Officer Commanding,21 Squadron, S.A.A.F.30th May, 1944.Para. 190. SPRAYING OF TENTS.All Tents will be sprayed with Anti-mosquito spray by theHygiene personnel once daily.Para. 191. DISCIPLINE - IMPROPER USE OF PARACHUTE BAGS.All personnel should be aware of the shortage of materialsand of the imperative need for the conservation at all times of everykind of equipment.Shortage of parachute travelling bags is caused by personnelusing such bags for carrying articles of personal kit.Any officer or airman found in possession of a parachutebag and using it for any other purpose than carrying a parachute willbe charged with theft or improper possession and brought to trial bycourt-martial.Parachute bags are to be returned to unit parachute sectionforthwith, for onward despatch of all surplus bags to the appropriateair stores park or maintenance unit.The practice of returning repairable parachutes to mainten-ance units without parachute bags is to cease, since this causesadditional damage to the parachute in transit and also creates re-issuedifficulties when the item has been serviced.(G.H.Q. COURTS MARTIAL FOR OFFENCES INVOLVING BREACHES OF SECURITY.Particulars of recent courts-martial held in respect ofoffences involving breaches of security are published for the informa-tion of all serving personnel:-(i) An airman was convicted on charges of neglecting to obeyfield censorship regulations by disclosing in a letter thelocation and nature of an air force unit, and of knowinglymaking a false statement by certifying that the letterreferred only to domestic matters. He was sentenced toundergo six months' imprisonment.(ii) An airman pleaded guilty to one charge of attempting toevade censorship by giving his letters to another airman todeliver by hand, and to three charges of recording in lettersinformation in respect of the disposition of certain of hisH.M. Forces and the movements of one of H.M. vessels. Hewas sentenced to undergo nine months' imprisonment with hardlabour.(iii) An officer was convicted on two charges of having unlawfullycommunicated information relating to activities against theenemy to two officers of the Allied forces who were not personsto whom he was authorised to communicate it.
