With a close escort of 12 Spitfires, formation set course from VIESTE at 1540 hrs, but one a/c returned after 1.30 Hrs due to engine trouble after jettisoning bombs 5 miles N.E. of PROMONTORY Point. Remaining 11 a/c attacked in two boxes from 12000' at 1740 Hrs on a course of 055°. First box undershot and second box, following on, crossed the railway terminus and carried on to centre of town. Weather and visibility, good in target area. NO enemy opposition. All a/c back at base by 1850 Hrs.
