NATAF (attention 2nd Command Unit 23rd SCORU) SAOA SAAF FROM : SIO 21 SQUADRON SAAF REF : 21S/645 DATE : 25th April 1944 OPREP No.645 for period ending 2100 Hrs on 24/4/44 REF MAP ITALY 1:100,000 Sheet No.131 FOLIGNO 12 Baltimores took off from BIFERNO L/G at 1008 Hrs to bomb a FUEL DUMP at A.817754 (A775849). After R/V with 12 Baltimores of 223 Sqdn & escort of 16 Spitfires they led on towards target via TERNI. Attack took place at 1140 Hrs from 9900' on a course of 360°. A mixed load of 250 lbs (Some with delay fuses) 40 lb G.P. and 30 lb Incendiaries was carried and dropped into a good intermingled pattern. 1st Box from A775847 to A775849. 2nd Box slightly to right from A775848 to A777844. Direct Hits on secondary road and on buildings at A777854, starting a fire with whitish smoke. NO other results were observed. There was NO enemy opposition. 7/10 Cu and St.Cu over mountains, good gaps. NO cloud in target area. Visibility good - all a/c landed by 1247 Hrs.
