Viljoen & Goldman Dispersed Stores Dumps 5 miles West of Place : Base to Bardia Bardia Date : 27 / 9 / 41 Time : 0735 hrs. Weather : Fine. Visibility good 1/10 Cloud over Height : 22000 feet. Target (1) Bombs dropped : (2) Failures : 8 X 250 lbs. in close group NIL (3) Observed effects : The majority of the bombs (19) fell in the well defined rows of stores ( ammunition ) from South end of Target onwards. I saw flashes and flares of flames after bombs exploded. 5 or 6 others overshot and fell among dispersed stores to within about 150/200 yards North of road near roadhouse. (4) Details of photographs taken : NIL. (5) Casualties to own aircraft and personnel : NIL (6) Casualties to enemy aircraft and personnel : NIL (7) Enemy A.A. ground defences encountered (a) location of defences (b) type (c) strength : About 20 to 30 bursts all round us seen shortly after our bombs burst. A/A flashes ( 8/10 ) seen in a row ½ mile North of Bardia Town.
