12 Baltimores airborne from BIFERNO at 0917 Hrs to attack TERNI M/Yds (A885416). After R/v with 223 Sqdn over base, formation picked up a close escort of 16 Spitfires at PENNA Point and set course for target at 1000 Hrs, 223 Sqdn leading. 21 Sqdn attacked in 2 boxes line astern at 1035 Hrs from 9000' on a course of about 250º. The bombs of both boxes merged resulting in a long pattern which started as a slight undershoot and ended in the Western portion of the target area. 2 D/Hits on stationary RR trucks followed by one explosion with reddish smoke. Last a/c landed at base 1139 Hrs. NO enemy opposition, encountered. Weather and visibility good over target.
