12 Marauders (4-4-4) airborne from JESI L/G between 1750 - 1958 hrs to attack an enemy troop concentration in an area East of MEDICINA (M125458) with 500 and 250 frag. bombs. Formation bombed at 1852 hrs on a course of 330º from 11500'. First box undershot slightly for main area, but with a concentrated pattern scored many direct hits on a cluster of buildings on Southern edge of briefed target. 2nd and 3rd Boxes straddled Western half of area with all bombs in target; many direct hits on scattered buildings. Whole formation caused explosions and fires, and it is estimated that much damage was caused. One A/c had intercomm. trouble – did not release and brought bombs back. H.A.A. moderate inaccurate target area.
