12 Balts airborne from BIFERNO at 16.40 hrs to carry out a third attack against STRETCH OF ROAD near CAPISTRELLO (G500728). 10/10ths Cu and St Cu, 8,000' base 13,000' tops, was encountered in target area. Both boxes attacked from below cloud base – the second after a dummy run. First box bombed from 7,500' on a course of 090º at 17.42 hrs. Pattern overshot from G502730 to G505730. Second box attacked from 8,000' at 17.47 hrs on a course of 115º, straddling road from G499732 to G602729, with at least six direct hits on road at G500729. No enemy opposition. All A/C landed by 18.36 Hrs.
