11 A/c (following a formation of 12 Squadron) airborne between 1041 - 1316 hrs. to attack the MALCONTENTA Ammunition Dump in an area between G595495 and G610495. Formation set course in three boxes (4-4-3) and bombed from 14000' at 1200 hrs. on an average course of about 045º. Bombing immediately after 12 Squadron, bombs of whole formation disappeared into explosions and smoke already caused and added further destruction. Details difficult to observe due to explosions, fires and huge column of smoke rising to about 8000'. Slight inaccurate H/A/A. Weather; 10/10 Str. Cu. at 16000', clear below formation and visibility good in slight haze. Eight Thunderbolts escorted the two Squadrons from CESENATICO – these broke away when approaching the target and attacked gun positons in vicinity.
