8 Marauders A/B (Airborne) in 2 Boxes from JESI L/G between 0859 and 1048 Hrs. to bomb built up area of PORTO GARIBALDI at M597670 – M598666 and to create road block, the operation being intended to give support to British Commandos attacking up the Isthmus separating LAKE COMACCHIO from the sea. The first Box had a slight undershoot but scored with about 40 percent of bombs in the target area. The second box bomed right across the briefed area, with over 70 percent of bombs falling on the target. One explosion was seen in the area after bombing, and the road running South into the Village was well straddled. Weather and visibility over the target was good. There was no enemy opposition.
