12 Marylands took off at 1412 hours LT. (Local Time) One returned at 1425 hours LT. (Local Time) with propeller pitch switch trouble. The Fighter escort of 10 Hurricanes was picked up at 1427 hours LT. (Local Time) over LG. 010. (Landing Ground 010) The formation flying V box 5 and V box 6 at 6,000 ft., proceeded to 595330, then to Ft. Meddeline, then South along the wire to a point just North of Girrabub, then Eastwards to the Siwa-Matruh track, and North East to Charing Cross and then home.At grid 24, on the wire, the Fighters left for home. All Observers reported that the wire is indistinct, but that a well worn track is already visible. Several observers noted a small Aircraft on the ground at 512302, and a larger one with twin rudder, at 527308. Much M/T (British) was reported. Communications were found to be rather poor, and this is being taken up immediately. Formation keeping and navigation were excellent.
