12 Balts off by 14.15 Hrs with a load of 40lb frag. bombs to attack Gun Positions at G. 662177 and G.682201 (5 miles West of Pontecorvo). At 14.38 hrs formation was instructed by W/T to bomb supply dumps near LORETO (briefed as the alternative target). On arrival over target whole area was covered with 10/10th cloud (9,000' tops) and the formation returned to base with all bombs. Last A/C down at 15.55 Hrs. NO enemy opposition.
