7 Marauders took off from JESI L/G at 0949 hrs. to bomb CASTEL FRANCO VENETO Marshalling Yards at G388771 – G400772. After R/v at BELLARIA with 4 Spitfires, they set course for target at 1037 hrs followed by 12 Squadron. The attack took place at 1118 in clear visibility. First box bombed from G397773 to G396774 from 12000' on a course of 295º. Bombs overshot by appr. 150 yards. The 2nd Box bombed from 10500' on a course of 350º, the stick falling in an undershoot from G392770 to G392711 and finishing at Southern edge of target. 4 x 1000 lbs. Bombs hang-up and were brought back. One explosion followed by a fire was seen prior to bombing at G391771. There was moderate mostly inaccurate. Heavy A/A over target about 50 bursts being observed. Six A/c recieved a total of 11 holes. All A/c landed by 1232 hrs.
