Of the eight Marylands which started, one had to return owing to engine trouble. The remainder picked up their escort at L.G. 122 and set off for their target. Coming in from the East the position below at the Eastern end of the target area appeared doubtful, and bombing was not commenced until this was 1 1/2 miles behind. Little was seen on the main road East of El-Adem, but between the road and Trigh Capuzzo a considerable amount of M.T. and tents was seen, and individual targets were selected. Three direct hits resulting in two fires and two trucks overturned, were claimed in this area. Just South East of El-Adem, a very good target was seen – consisting of some form of dump. Here a very big fire and three smaller ones were caused, the large fire with volumes of black smoke, probably came from a fuel point. South and East of El-Adem, between the two escarpments large numbers of M.T. were seen, and troops and many M.T. were seen between the roads East of grid 42. Smoke and flash signals were seen at 435402 and Eastwards. A M.E. 110 was seen at our right ahead of our formation over the target but keeping well clear.
