After leaving the Frontier wire about 100 miles behind on their outward course, the formation was approached by about eight enemy Fighters. The formation turned to port and climbed, and then turned again on course. A few minutes later the rear Gunner again reported the Fighters at 3000 yards on port beam. The Leader decided to abandon the operation, and returned. 13 M.T. were seen, parked, at T V 0286, Libyan grid, and 9 M.T. moving South alongside the wire 12 miles South of Madalena.
