APPENDIX "B"SQUADRON ROUTINE ORDERS. NO. 113/44. 21 SQUADRON. S.A.A.F.ByLT. COL. D. ORD. D.F.C.Officer Commanding,21 Squadron. S.A.A.F.20th December, 1944.Para. 402. CURRENCY : 1000 LIRE NOTES:Notes for 1000 Lire bearing the following Serial Numbers have been found to be forgeries. Any person in possession of these must hand same into the Pay Office immediately, when a receipt will be issued and they will be notified when an investigation has been made.Serial Numbers. A.16143743 : A.16123712 : A.94830591.Para. 403. MECHANICAL TRANSPORT:The following points are brought to the notice of all concerned.(1) M. T. Batteries are becoming increasingly difficult to obtain and the greatest care must be taken of those at present in use.(2) It will be realized that cold weather congeals or thickens engine oil, thereby putting an additional strain on batteries. When starting each morning the most effective method of overcoming this is to turn the engine a few times by hand before using the self starter. It is your duty to obtain a crank handle for your truck AND USE IT as above.(3) When starting an engine, remember that the mixture produced by using the "choke" dissolves the film of oil on the cylinder walls, so DO NOT "over choke", it damages your engine.(4) Revving the engine when cold is a sign of insanity and is NOT an efficient method of "warming". To warm your engine, run it slightly faster than idling speed for about 2 or 3 minutes.(5) Every service driver is responsible, before proceeding on any journey in a service vehicle, for adequate Petrol, Oil and Water in his vehicle. He is also held responsible for having the necessary Route Form in his possession.(6) All vehicles MUST BE EFFECTIVELY IMMOBILISED when left unattended.Para. 404. SEASONAL GREETINGS FROM D. G. A. Aircrew have not yet reported to the Pay Office with their paybooks. It is essential that their "eligibility to draw Flying Pay" in terms of War Measure 23/44 be correctly confirmed, otherwise the Chief Paymaster will not credit Flying Pay in the main account with resulting overpayments.
