"D"SQUADRON ROUTINE ORDERS. No 79/44. 21 SQUADRON, S.A.A.F.ByLT. COL. A. C. JANDRELL, D.F.C.Officer Commanding,21 Squadron, S.A.A.F.1st September, 1944.Para. 300. DISCIPLINE : LOOTING.The removal of furniture, etc., from the town of Pescara is causing A.M.G.O.T. authorities serious embarrassment and is absolutely forbidden unless authorised by the Officer in charge, A.M.G.A.M.G. advise that they have been forced to issue orders to local administrative Police to place under arrest immediately any military personnel caught looting in the town. The danger of the use of fire-arms if such arrest is resisted cannot be overlooked.Para. 301. COMMENDATION.The following message has been received from Lt. Gen. Mark W. Clark, U.S.A. Commanding Fifth Army:"I want to express my appreciation and pleasure for the superior air support which has been given to Fifth Army by the Desert Air Force since July 1944.When the XII T.A.F. was called upon for other operations, it fell to the lot of the Desert Air Force to support the Fifth Army. This represented a great extension of your responsibilities, as you were required to furnish air support for the entire Italian battle front. In spite of the difficulties incident to this expansion, your liaison with the Fifth Army was efficiently set up in a minimum of time. All targets which we have requested have been accepted and your pilots have been outstanding in their skill and highly aggressive in carrying out their attacks. Photographs of target areas indicate the results to have been effective. All personnel of your command who have come in contact with members of Fifth Army have been extremely co-operative and desirous of helping in every possible manner.(1205/5. Ser.40 a) (Signed) MARK W. FIELD GENERAL COURTS-MARTIAL.(1) No. 1800228 Sergeant York, T. of No. 250 Squadron was on 17th August, 1944 found guilty by Field General Court-Martial of negligently driving a service vehicle. He was sentenced to be severely reprimanded.The Finding and sentence have been confirmed.(2) No. 918344 A. C. 1 Timbrell R. J. of Headquarters No. 232 Wing was on 17th August, 1944 found guilty by Field General Court-Martial of being absent without leave for 14 days.
