APPENDIX "B"181SQUADRON ROUTINE ORDERS. No. 28/44. 21 SQUADRON. S.A.A.F.ByLT. COL. A. C. JANDRELL. D.F.C.Officer Commanding.21 Squadron. S.A.A.F.2nd April, 1944.Para. 105. THIS UNIT IS DUTY SQUADRON FOR THE WEEK 3rd APRIL TO 10th APRIL, 1944.(a) Flare Path Crews will be detailed by the Engineer Officer.Crews will be responsible for the efficient operation ofElectric Flare path and Chance Light when necessary.In the event of the Electric Flare Path becoming unserviceablethe Duty Officer will arrange for a "gooseneck" Flare Path to be laid on.A Double Flare Path will be used, provided the equipment is available.The Flare Path will be at least 1400 yards long and is to be availableon 10 minutes warning between 18.00 and 06.30 hours.The removal of the Flare Path and Chance Light will be theresponsibility of the Crew before flying operations commence thefollowing day.Crews will be available at any time during the night and willon no account leave the aerodrome until relieved. They will sleep inthe E.P.I.P. Tent provided.Duty Officers will be responsible for organisation of the Crews.(b) Electricians will be detailed for duty by the Engineer Officer.(c) Fire Tender Crew (DAY & NIGHT duties will be performed) will bedetailed by the Engineer Officer.The Fire Tender will be parked near Flying Control and the Crewwill be in attendance throughout the day and night and will on no accountbe allowed to leave the landing ground.The R.S.M. will be responsible to see that the Crew is fullyconversant in operating the Fire Tender and will carry out a practiceonce.(d) Duty M. T. Drivers will be detailed by the Transport Officer.A Duty truck and driver will be available for marshallingpurposes, and will be directed by the Duty Officer.(e) Duty Officers.Flight Commanders will detail and instruct DutyOfficers with regard to their tour of duty and their duties.Duty Officers will be Pilots and will certify that they have read andunderstand the orders laying down the duties of Airfield Controller.Certificates for which will be kept in the Ops Room.All meals for personnel on duty will be called for by DutyDriver, who will report to Duty Officer before leaving the Landing Ground.Meals will be provided details assuming night duty prior todeparture.Transport will depart at 06.15 hours in the morning and 17.45hours in the evening.The Squadron will have available a bowser and refuelling crewon short call for refuelling of visiting aircraft. Transport for visitorswill be arranged by the Duty Officer. The visiting aircraft will bedirected into the dispersal area near the Control Office and the Aerodrome/
