21 SQUADRON, SOUTH AFRICAN AIR FORCE.25th December, 1943. 27th December, 1943.TORTORELLA25th Cont.visits to the other Messes throughout the day.26thThe rain, which had started the previous night, continuedthroughout the day making conditions difficult and mostunpleasant. In the early afternoon a formation took off toattack a merchant vessel near Preko harbour, but after elevenaircraft had become airborne, they were recalled owing to thebad weather.27thMajor Ord, Lieut. Hodges and Lieut. McAravey, arrivedback at the Squadron after having spent a month in England onofficial duties. Major Ord immediately arranged lectures inthe various Messes so that Squadron personnel could reap thebenefit of the knowledge he had acquired whilst on the trip.The bad weather continued and there were no operations.
