As it appeared likely that the Squadron would remain at the staging point for some time, the Orderly Room Tent was pitched, so that the Administrative Staff could deal with the work that had accumulated.

Transcriber's Notes
"Heavy vehicles... by sea, remainder... by road" (11th Oct): This change in plan reflects the acute shipping shortage. "By road" in this context implies driving the lighter vehicles all the way to Messina (the ferry crossing point). While the "sea" option likely meant loading at Catania port directly for Italy, the road option required a drive north along the coast to the short ferry crossing at the straits.
