NO. 21 SQUADRON, SOUTH AFRICAN AIR FORCE.20TH APRIL 1943.EL DJEM | 20th Contd.posting to 55 Squadron, R.A.F., as Flight Commander. His obser-ver Lt. Simon has also been posted to the same Squadron and theyleft today. No operational flying. Oprep. No. 27021st.We had another visit by Jerry last night, and he received avery hot reception from our A.A. lads and consequently onlydropped a few bombs and hit two small dumps of ammunition andfuel on El Djem North L.G. Ten airmen arrived to replace Signalspersonnel who are due for R.T.U. Four Belgian Air Force WarrantOfficers are included in the new arrivals.No operational flying. Oprep. No. 27122ndThe Luftwaffe put in another appearance last night, but againour A.A. was to much for them, a few bombs were dropped butnothing was hit. Instructions received to move our aircraft toEl Djem North L.G., this afternoon and the Camp tomorrow. TheCommanding Officer and Adjutant accompanied by several otherOfficers visited this landing ground to select a camp site anddispersal area. The aircraft were flown over during the courseof the afternoon and flight personnel moved over with lock,stock and barrel. At about six this evening we were advise todisperse all the aircraft as much as possible as there was adistinct possibility that we will be heavily bombed tonight.Accordingly the aircraft were scattered all over.No operational flying.
