NO. 21 SQUADRON, SOUTH AFRICAN AIR FORCE.1st APRIL 1943 3rd APRIL 1943ZUARA | 1st | 0900This morning Capt. Mouton led a formation of 18 Baltimores ona raid on Sfax el Maou L.G. The weather was fairly good and thebombs fell along the north of the L.G. amongst well dispersedaircraft in and out of the blast shelters. Two fires were start-ed. A.A. was very intense and one aircraft was hit over thetarget and the port engine damaged, pilot made a one enginelanding at Ben Gardane, 4 other aircraft were slightly holed.F/Sgt. Forrest was wounded in the left arm by A.A. splintersand his pilot landed at Ben Gardane and left him with the M.R.Sthere.Oprep. No.249, Sortie Report & Crew List.2nd. 091512 Baltimores and 6 Bostons of 24 Squadron led by Capt.Cormacktook off to attack enemy concentrations in squares TZ 1070 orTZ 1080 (Ref. Map Tunisia 1:500,000 Gabes and Sfax). No enemyconcentrations were seen in either square, so the formationdropped a long stick ascross the Gabes - Sfax road and to theEast of the road from TZ 3087 to TZ 3393. Two small fires werestarted and a direct hit was scored on the road on which therewere 8-10 M.T. well dispersed. A.A. fairly intense but in-accurate. Oprep No.250, Sortie Report & Crew List.3rd 1100A search for Lt. Murray and crew who forced landed after anoperation on the 26th of March 1943 was carried out by fouraircraft. Other than the W/T message saying that the aircrafthad forced landed no news has been received from any sources ofthe aircraft or crew. 211 Group had made a search of the battlearea for this aircraft with no results.Appendices "A".Appendices "B".[Page No.] 186
