1000 hrs Zuara
NO. 21 SQUADRON. S. A. A. F.10th March 1943.Zuara. | 10th Contd.to await the arrival the Squadron commanders who were due byair at 1000 hrs. When they arriver camp sites wear chosen andby the evening the camp had started to look like a camp. Thecamp is just East of the road running South out of Zuara pastthe aerodrome. The squadron aircraft arrived just before lunch.The aerodrome is a bit small at present but it is beingextended and as the sea is nearby and the rations here are verygood everyone is hoping that our stay here will be a long oneNews was recieved today that yesterday Lt. Weir and Flt/Sgt.Barrett, both of this Squadron were passengers in a Boston thatcrashed on takeoff at Berka. Barrett sustained a fractured skulland died in hoppital some hours later. Lt. Weir was unhurt. Thewhole Squadron will miss Flt/Sgt Barrett who was a very prpularand who was one of our best electricians. He had been attendinga course in the Delta area on the Mk.ll1A Turrets for Balti's.[Page No.] 169
