Transcriber's Notes

Transcriber's Notes:
* Routine Duties (Mail Censorship):
* The Roster: The list of duty officers includes several familiar names from the month's Sortie Reports:
* 2/Lieut. P.J. Rushforth: Often flies as an Observer (e.g., Appendix F).
* Lieut. M.J. Gildenhuys: An Observer who would later be involved in the fatal crash of Capt. van der Riet on Feb 28th (survived by bailing out).
* 2/Lieut. E.A. Vande Putte: An Observer who frequently flew with Capt. Dieu (e.g., Appendix B).
* Lieut. T.H. Ashton: A pilot who led a box on the Feb 3rd raid (Appendix B).
* Lieut. C. te Water-Pohl: An Observer who flew with the C.O., Lt. Col. Jandrell (Appendix D).
* Pay Parade:
* Timing: Pay parades were major administrative events. The segregation by rank (Air Mechanics morning, Officers/NCOs afternoon) ensured order. The warning to "make provision for same on Pay day" for those going on leave was crucial because soldiers needed cash (Allied Military Currency) for R&R trips to places like Sorrento or Bari.
* Medical Administration (Dental):
* Change in Procedure: The order cancels a previous arrangement where a specific day was reserved for the squadron. Now, appointments must be booked individually. This likely reflects the growing number of units in the Foggia area straining the centralized medical resources of No. 3 S.A. Wing.
* Discipline: The threat of "Disciplinary action" for missed appointments highlights the scarcity of dental slots and the administrative cost of wasted time.
* Missing Order:
* S.R.O. No. 10/44: The War Diary jumps from Routine Order No. 9/44 (Appendix H) to No. 11/44 (Appendix I). Routine Order No. 10 is missing from the sequence in the appendices, though likely covered minor administrative details.
